Bears Host Montana for Weekend Series

GREELEY, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado softball team returns home to Gloria Rodriquez Field to host Montana for a Big Sky Conference weekend series this Friday and Saturday, April 14-15.
UNC and the Grizzlies are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. (MT), with Saturday's finale set to begin at noon. The game will also serve as Military Appreciation Day, while Saturday's contest will serve as UNC's Pink Game.
The Bears enter the weekend series fourth in the Big Sky with a conference record of 2-4 and an overall record of 14-18. The Grizzlies enter the weekend sitting in sixth in the conference standings with a 1-5 Big Sky record and an overall record of 7-29.
UNC's leadoff hitter Lauren Strathearn leads the Big Sky in hits with 37 and she ranks fourth with a .359 batting average. Strathearn also has eight stolen bases on the year, which ranks second in the Big Sky.
Northern Colorado posses one of the best pitching duos in the Big Sky. Erin Caviness ranks second for lowest opposing batting average at .252, while Isabelle DiNapoli ranks 10th with a .314 average. Caviness leads the Big Sky in strikeouts with 101, while DiNapoli is third with 58. The duo also rank second and third in mist innings pitched, Caviness with 103.1 and DiNapoli with 82.0. In total, the UNC pitching staff has a combined ERA of 4.30 which ranks second best in the Big Sky.
At first base, Alexsi Barashkoff ranks third in the Big Sky for most putouts with 146 on the season. Behind home plate, Sabrina Javorsky has recorded 116 putouts, seventh most in the conference.
