Softball Heads to Utah for Matchup Against Wildcats

GREELEY, Colo. -- The Northern Colorado softball team looks to extend it's winning streak, as the Bears head to Weber State this weekend for the team's final road series of the regular season. Due to rain in Friday's forecast, the series at Weber State has pushed back to Saturday and Sunday.
The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. (MT), with a solo game beginning at noon on Sunday.
Northern Colorado enters Ogden, Utah, having won the weekend series against Montana this past week at home. The Beras are 16-19 overall with a 4-5 mark in conference play, sitting in fourth place. The Wildcats sit in fifth place, just behind the Bears, with a 2-4 record in conference play and an 8-25 record overall.
Reigning Co-Pitcher of the Week, Erin Caviness, continues to lead the Big Sky in strikeouts, as the senior has 107 to her name so far this season. Fellow pitcher, Isabelle DiNapoli ranks third in the conference for strikeouts with 61. Caviness also leads the Big Sky pitchers for opposing batting average with .242, while she ranks second in both batters struckout looking, 23, and wins, 10.Â
Lauren Strathearn sits fifth in the Big Sky with a season batting average of .346, while teammate Alyssa Wenzel is right behind her in sixth with an average of .342. Wenzel also ranks second in the conference for hits with 39, just one shy of the Big Sky leader.
