Northern Colorado Hosting UMKC for Home Opener

GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado softball team hosts UMKC for its home-opening weekend series this Friday and Saturday, March 10-11.
The Bears take on the Roos Friday for a single game beginning at 3p.m. (MT.) The teams return to the diamond on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m.
Saturday's game is also Bark in the Park sponsored by SCHEELS. Fans are encouraged to bring their friendly dogs to Gloria Rodriguez Field.

UNC Softball
- The Bears enter the weekend after a 3-1 outing against UTEP and New Mexico State last weekend, and are 9-10 on the season. Last season the Bears were 6-13 in their first 19 games.
- Three Bears are batting over .300 on the season: Lauren Strathearn (.390), Alexis Barashkoff (.385), Alyssa Wenzel (.365) and Paola Villegas (.360).
- Barashkoff leads UNC in total bases, with 20 hits that include two doubles and a team-best three home runs.
- Villegas leads UNC in extra-base hits, recording six doubles, two triples and one home run.
- In the circle, Erin Caviness has a 6-2 record with one save, and has posted a 3.00 ERA through 58.1 innings pitched this season. Caviness has also struck out a total of 48 batters, an average of seven per game.
