Bears Earn Two Wins in New Mexico

In the opening contest against the Miners, UNC hit three home runs, including a walk-off homer by Jaycie Gandert in the bottom of the eighth; Alexsi Barashkoff and Alison Steinker hit the other two home runs, both in the fifth inning. Against the Aggies, UNC scored three runs in both the second and sixth innings.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Amailee Morales led the Bears with a .400 batting average, recording two hits in five at-bats; hitting one double, scoring one run and recording one RBI.
- Alison Steinker hit her first home run of the season, and just the third of her career. She batted .375 for the day with three hits in eight at-bats.
- Isabelle DiNapoli earned both wins on the day, pitching a total of 7.2 innings with five earned runs against.
- Erin Caviness earned the save against the Aggies and pitched 7.1 innings on the day with just four earned runs against.
UP NEXT
The Bears take on UTEP and New Mexico State in back-to-back games tomorrow to finish out the weekend. First pitch against the Miners is set for 9 a.m. (MT).
