OMAHA, Neb. – Northern Colorado embarks on its first Summit League road series of the season with three games at Omaha.

Omaha leads the all-time series 12-11 and the Bears have dropped their past two games. Omaha, which was previously branded as Nebraska-Omaha, outscored the Bears 17-1 last season and won the conference series 2-1. Prior to 2022, the teams last played in 2017. Between 2013 and 2017 the two programs met five times, with the Bears going 5-0.

Bears' Offense Coming in Hot

UNC's offense has showcased its ability and scored 33 runs over the past four games. Austin Bunn is batting a team-high .339 to go with 20 base hits, 12 RBI, and five doubles. Bunn has also drawn 10 walks and sports a .461 on-base percentage. Jake King and Caden Wagner have also provided the offense with a spark. King is batting .310 with 10 RBI, six doubles and a home run. Caden Wagner is batting .304 with a team-high four home runs.

Wagner Named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week

Wagner was named the Summit League's Peak Performer of the Week, conference officials announced this past Monday.

Wagner hit .600 in Northern Colorado's Summit League series win over South Dakota State, including a 5-for-8 effort in the Bears' two wins. He also scored four runs, had four RBI and three extra-base hits against the Jackrabbits.

In the series opener, it was Wagner's three-run homer in the eighth that put the Bears ahead for good. He capped the series with a season-high three hits and scored twice as UNC took the finale, 9-6. The Parker, Colo., native reached base in all five of the Bears' games last week.
