COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Northern Colorado baseball couldn't overcome an early deficit on the road Wednesday afternoon, falling to Air Force at Erdle Field.

Air Force scored early, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning and adding three more in the second to build a quick 7-1 advantage. A solo home run from Jake Bullard in the second inning put the Bears on the board, but the early surge by the Falcons proved to be the difference.

Northern Colorado continued to battle offensively throughout the game. The Bears tallied seven hits, with Bullard leading the way with a home run and an RBI, while Wilson Kieffer added a pair of hits including a double. Brandon Sanchez also contributed with a hit, RBI, and two walks in a solid performance at the plate.

The Bears chipped away with single runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth innings, highlighted by RBI contributions from Brett Barber, Kieffer, and Sanchez. However, they were unable to string together a big inning to fully close the gap.

On the mound, Northern Colorado used multiple arms after starter Lucas Stone allowed four runs in the opening inning and took the loss. Mason Bright and Logan Borboa provided bright spots out of the bullpen, combining for four scoreless innings to help stabilize things late.

ON DECK: The Bears will return to Jackson Field and resume conference action, hosting North Dakota State for a three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. MDT on Friday, April 10.
