UNC Falls in Second Half to Idaho on the Road
2/16/2023 9:04:00 PM | Men's Basketball
LEWISTON, Idaho – Despite holding a 36-32 lead at halftime, the Northern Colorado men's basketball team fell to Idaho, 84-82 on the road Thursday night.
UNC shot 53.3% in the second half, but Idaho converted 18 of its 20 free throws in the second half for the comeback win.
Daylen Kountz led the Bears with 26 points on the night, shooting 69.2% from the field. Dalton Knecht followed up with 22 points, shooting 50% from the field.
ACCORDING TO COACH SMILEY
"We played well enough to win, and I thought we played really hard, but we also played too sloppy at times," head coach Steve Smiley said. "A few too many uncharacteristic turnovers, missed easy shots, etc.; especially when we had a chance to stretch the game out. Idaho has two great players and they both played extremely well tonight. When we went to the zone, their team made just enough perimeter shots to put us in a bind. This is a tough loss for us, especially after leading for 39 minutes."
