Bears Come Up Short in Battle Against Aggies
9/18/2022 3:59:00 PM | Women's Soccer
GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Soccer concluded non-conference play on Sunday at Jackson Stadium with a 1-0 loss against Utah State.
The defenses of both teams were the story of Sunday's matchup, putting on strong performances that halted the momentum of the other's offense.
The two teams proved to be a fairly even matchup in the first half with junior goalie Kaya Lindberg recording five saves to keep USU off the board. The Bears also recorded three shots in the first 45 minutes of regulation to go into halftime tied at 0-0.
While the second half saw more shot attempts from the Aggies, it also boasted strong defensive play from the Bears as a result. Lindberg tabbed an additional three saves in the half, while other teammates also stepped up to help block USU's shots.
Despite UNC's defensive presence, the Aggies were able to find the back of the net at the 75-minute mark to take a 1-0 lead.
Northern Colorado battled hard until the final buzzer, creating some good scoring chances, and putting up two additional shots in the half. The best chance of the half came on a header from Lauren Woodhull off of a corner kick that was unable to find its way into the net, for the Aggies to just pull off the 1-0 defeat.
