Northern Colorado concluded its road trip at Washington State Thursday
PULLMAN, Wash. – Northern Colorado soccer concluded its three-game road trip with a visit to the Palouse on Thursday night to face Washington State. The top 40 Cougars used early and consistent pressure to defeat the Bears 6-0.
The first half was all WSU as they out-shot UNC 16-1 in the first 45 minutes and led 4-0. The Cougars took advantage of a three-goal spurt in just a little over five minutes to pull away from the Bears.
In the second half, Northern Colorado showed they were going to fight until the end, getting off four shots including three on goal.
UNC's first opportunity of the night came in the 58th-minute from Hailey Collier. Two other Bears ended the night with shots on goal as well.
What They Said
"It just wasn't our night. Washington State is a very good team that caused problems for us. They scored on a couple of set pieces and opened us up in some areas. We had some bright spots, but also have areas where we can learn from and improve. We will take the good out of it and move on. All of this is in preparation for the Big Sky Conference which is coming up next week. I am happy with the effort the players put out tonight, even when it is not your night. I'm proud of the way the team fought in the second half."
Game Notes
- Kaya Lindberg finished four saves shy of her career-high with seven on the night.
- Hailey Collier, Haley O'Nan, Lucy Roberts, Morgan King, and Ashley Hillman each recorded a shot for the Bears.
- Head Coach Tim Barrera ran out 18 different players in the match. Lucy Hart recorded the most minutes 34.

Northern Colorado returns home to host Utah State at noon on Sunday, October 18 at Jackson Field. Admission to all Northern Colorado soccer games is free.
