GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Soccer secured their second consecutive Front Range Derby title in a 2-0 win over rivals Wyoming on Thursday night.
Northern Colorado wasted no time in showing their opponents that they meant business, scoring just 49 seconds into the game. The goal came courtesy of graduate student, Haley O'Nan with an assist from Lucy Hart.
Despite a whopping 12 shots from the Cowgirls in the first half, the Bears kept them off of the board much thanks to a great night in goal by Kaya Lindberg. Lindberg tabbed a total of three saves in the first half alone.
Wyoming came back strong in the second half, with an additional seven shots in the final 45 minutes of the match. However, Lindberg added two more saves to keep the Cowgirls scoreless at the end of regulation.
Freshman Abby Bush also put on a great performance in her regular season debut for the Blue and Gold, finding the back of the net for her first college goal to cement the victory in UNC's favor.
This marks the second year in a row the Bears have earned the Front Range Derby title, with the reigning champions keeping the trophy in Greeley.
