GREELEY, Colo.-Â UNC Soccer's regular season competition is upon us and there is no better way to mark the official beginning of the 2022 campaign than with a rivalry game, as the Bears host Wyoming on Thursday night. While both teams will be vying for the Front Range Derby title, the Bears will look to repeat their victory for the second consecutive year under the Jackson Stadium lights.
Â
Scouting the Cowgirls
Wyoming concluded its 2021 season with an overall record of 8-10-1 and a conference record of 4-7 in the Mountain West. The Cowgirls have played just one preseason exhibition, making UNC their first regular season opponent of the 2022 campaign.
Â
Head Coach Colleen Corbin will welcome back a total of 24 players to the roster in 2022, with eight new additions as well. The most notable returner for UW comes in redshirt-senior Jamie Tatum. Tatum ended her 2021 season by earning Mountain West Player of the Week Honors thanks to her two goals in a victory over Colorado State. She led the Cowgirls with a team-high six goals and seven assists, for 19 total points in 2021. She also set a program record with three assists against Nevada last season.
Â
