Soccer Unable to Best Rams in Final Exhibition of the Season
8/12/2022 5:55:00 PM | Women's Soccer
FORT COLLINS, Colo.- Northern Colorado Soccer's final exhibition of the season against the Rams served as a valuable tune-up before regular season play thanks to a good team defensive effort, despite coming up short 1-0.
The first half of the match in Fort Collins was an even contest across the board, as both teams were able to keep the other scoreless going into the second half.
UNC goalkeeper Kaya Lindberg kept the Rams off the board with three saves in the first 45 minutes of play as the Rams tabbed four overall shots.
The Bears' lone shot of the first half came from freshman Riley Kaali-Nagy, trying to pick up where she left off after scoring a goal in the Air Force exhibition, but to no avail.
Coming into the second half with an even playing field, the Rams took an early lead with a goal at the 53-minute mark.
UNC rallied looking to even the score with a total of three additional shots in the second half from Lily Thimsen and Keely Patterson, but were unable to find the net.
Goalies Dylan Drennan and Maddie Smith were solid in goal in the final period keeping the Rams to a one-goal lead after three additional shots to end the match at 1-0.
