GREELEY, Colo.- UNC Track and Field will split between two different meets this weekend. One group will spend the weekend in the Swamp as they compete at the Tom Jones Memorial hosted by the University of Florida on Friday and Saturday. The others will head up the road for the Doug Max Invitational hosted by Colorado State on Friday.
Â
Following another set of record-breaking and ranking performances in Boulder at the Colorado Invitational, Northern Colorado has their eyes on yet another successful weekend in both Gainesville and Fort Collins.
Â
At Boulder, Jerome Campbell stole the show, breaking a 25-year-old program record in the 110m hurdles. He crossed the finish line with a time of 13.84 and now sits at first in the Big Sky, 17th in the NCAA west region, and 31st in the nation.
Â
Two other Bears also claimed the first-place victories in their events while in Boulder. Regina Mpigachai crossed the line before her competition in the 800m, clocking a time of 2:13.21. Along with this, Tyler Thimsen took gold in the men's triple jump, landing him eighth in the Big Sky and 45th in the west region.
Â
Other Bears that cracked the Big Sky rankings in their respective events include Wendira Moss (1st), Ruby Ann Gregory (10th), Chloe Rylance (14th) and Craiesha Johnson (18th).
Â
The Bears will use this momentum as they go their separate ways over the weekend and look to continue their run of great showings at both meets.
Â
They will next compete as a whole unit at the Rock Chalk Classic hosted by Kansas on April 30.
