GREELEY, Colo. – A couple of crooked numbers from North Dakota State put Northern Colorado in too deep of a hole Friday as the Bison secured the first win of the series, 20-3.

Starting pitcher Ian Torpey stifled the Bison for most of the first and second innings.

With two swings of the bat, though, NDSU took the lead with a home run in the second and a grand slam in the third.

Northern Colorado activated its no-quit attitude in the bottom half. Craig Kenny rocketed a laser over the left-field fence to get UNC on the board. Later in the inning, Garrett Fisher was able to push Jake King over home plate with a two-out RBI single, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

After two runs in the fifth inning, the Bison put a big 10-spot up in the sixth to break open the game.

Head coach Carl Iwasaki's crew fought until the final out. Before NDSU closed out the contest in the seventh, Cameron Cromer drove across his fifth RBI of the season.

In the end, North Dakota State's firepower was too much for the Bears as the visitors took the win, 20-3.

Game Notes

Craig Kenny notched his third home run of the season.
Hayden Heinze extended his hitting streak to nine games.
Chase Cromer's reached base streak is now seven games.
