Runners show well at New Mexico Classic

Wendira Moss leads strong contingent of runners at the New Mexico Classic
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Wendira Moss led a group of Northern Colorado runners who had a good showing at the New Mexico Classic over the weekend. The Bears competed against some of the best teams in the nation including LSU, Texas, TCU and perennial Division II national contender Adams State.
Moss ran the fifth-fastest 200m time in the Big Sky this year and the sixth-best time in program history by crossing the line in 24.99.
The best individual finish at the meet belonged to Jesse Hayward who earned second place in the 800m run. Hayward finished his laps around the track in 1:55.29.
Five Bears ran personal best times at the meet in Ibro Soumah, Steven Cross, Andrea Stark, Craiesha Johnson and Chloe Rylance.
Soumah and Cross both ran their PR in the 200m. Soumah's time of 22.31 placed him 20th on the Big Sky performance list while Cross finished the race in 22.99 seconds.
For the women, Stark had a PR in the 60m with a run of 7.92 while Johnson ran 59.42 in the 400m. Rylance ran the 800m for the first time in her collegiate career finishing it in 2:22.90.
What's Ahead
UNC continues its ramp-up for the Big Sky Indoor Championships with a return trip to Lubbock, Texas next weekend. The Bears will compete in the Texas Shootout. Northern Colorado's first trip to Lubbock this year saw freshman Regina Mpigachai break the program's 3000m record.
