Track and Field ready to return to Lubbock for Texas Shootout

UNC track and field returns to Lubbock, Texas for the Texas Shootout this weekend
GREELEY, Colo.- Northern Colorado Track and Field will return to Lubbock, Texas for the second time this season as they compete in the Texas Shootout hosted by Texas Tech on Friday and Saturday. The meet will stream on ESPN+ both days.

The Bears are coming off of yet another successful meet hosted by New Mexico, where five different runners set new personal records in their events. Wendira Moss also earned a time of 24.99 in the 200m at the New Mexico Classic, giving her the fifth-fastest time in the Big Sky this season and the sixth-fastest time in school history.

UNC will also leverage recent accolades in the field events, as triple jump squad members Welre Olivier, Quazon Al-Khlaiq, and Tyler Thimsen are currently ranked fourth in the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches National Squad Computer Rankings.

Northern Colorado is no stranger to success in Lubbock, as their first trip to Texas for the Corky Classic earlier this year was chalked full of impressive performances. Most notably, freshman Regina Mpigachai lapped the competition and broke the school's record in the 3000m with a time of 9:47.87.

Other Bears that clocked strong finishes in their respective events the last time they took on the Red Raiders include Jesse Hayward, Steven Cross, and Welre Olivier.
