Opening Tip
Sophomore sensation Hannah Simental is inching closer to a career milestone. After 16 crucial points in the win over Idaho State, Simental is five points shy of 500. Simental also remains the second-best three-point shooter in the conference at 42.5 percent from deep.
Fellow sophomore Sydney Stensgard is starting to finder her rhythm on the court as of last. Stensgard has scored seven points in each of the last two games with the Minnesota native scoring all seven of her points in the fourth quarter during the win over the Bengals.
Sixty points, defensively, is the magic number for the Bears. Twelve times UNC has held its opponent to less than 60 and are 10-2 in such games.
As a team, Northern Colorado is the third-most efficient three-point shooting team in the Big Sky. At 35.1 percent from beyond the arc, UNC trails only Idaho State and Sacramento State.
Last Time Out
Prolific defense, especially in the fourth quarter allowed Northern Colorado to pull the upset over No. 1 Idaho State. The Bears went on a 17-4 run over the final 10:31, capping it off with Allie Downing's go-ahead jumper.
Scouting the Wildcats
After dropping four of the previous five games, Weber State conjured arguably its most impressive victory of the season with a 62-52 win over a surging Sacramento State team. Kori Pentzer (17 pts), Daryn Hickock (16 pts) and Emma Torbert (13 pts) all reached double figures as the Wildcats shot 59 percent from the floor.
Hickock remains second in the Big Sky Conference in scoring, averaging 16.9 per contest. The junior is also second in field goal percentage at .539.
As a team, WSU prides itself on getting to the foul line. Weber State ranks first in the conference in free throw attempts (497) and is 12th in the country in made free throws (375).
