Aggies' quick start too much to overcome for Bears Soccer in Logan

LOGAN, Utah – Two quick goals from Utah State in the opening 10 minutes proved too deep a hole for Northern Colorado. Despite the Bears holding USU to just one shot on goal over a 75-minute span, UNC couldn't find a way back into the contest, dropping its first game of the season, 2-0.
Early chances from the home side put the pressure on the Bear defense. Five minutes in, the Aggies found the back of the net off a short-corner.
While UNC pushed forward, allowing Cara Quinn to get a shot off, Utah State's counter proved too much once more as the Aggies doubled its advantage in the eighth minute.
As the game wore one, head coach Tim Barrera's crew began to settle in.
Solid movement down the channels brought forth a pair of corner kicks and in the 37th minute, Maddie Duren tested the Utah State keeper from deep, only to be denied by the crossbar.

In the second half, Northern Colorado's defense proved its toughness.
After conceding three shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes, the back line surrendered just one, a dribbler easily handled by Ashley Franza.
Finding confidence as the game wore on, the Bears were able to find space in multiple areas of the pitch. Cara Quinn and Erika Hall each tallied shots, while Olivia Seddon showcased her playmaking abilities out of midfield.

With neither side dominating much of the second half, each goalie was asked to make a save apiece. At the final whistle, the contest ended where the second half began, giving Utah State its second straight home victory, 2-0.
What They Said
Head Coach, Tim Barrera
"We obviously had a poor start, giving up a couple of early goals and had to fight to get back in it. After the goals, I thought we defended well. I was proud of the way they fought back and stayed in it after the tough start. We'll regroup here because we'll certainly have our hands full with Utah on Sunday."
