Bears and Falcons play to tie in Denver

GREELEY, Colo. – With the summer sun beating down on University of Denver Soccer Stadium, it was the play of Morgan Bury and the defense who kept the first clean sheet of the season, earning a tie, 0-0, with Air Force.
Most of the first half was played in the middle of the park with both the Bears and Falcons earning two shots on goal apiece.
Northern Colorado's netminder Morgan Bury proved up to the task in goal and just like against Colorado College, the line of defenders in front of her were able to keep Air Force's chances few and far between.
Lexi Pulley and freshman Ashley Hillman were the two UNC players to tally a shot on goal. Hillman connected with a fierce header at the back post but the Falcon keeper denied the rookie's first goal of her career.
As the Bears spent much of the final minutes of the first half on the attack, Tim Barrera's crew picked up right where they left off in the second.
A free-kick and multiple corners kept the pressure on Air Force. Pulley, Melina Faris and Maddie Duren all took cracks at goal.
After two saves in the first 45 minutes, Bury was even more impressive in the later parts of regulation. The Laramie, Wyoming product stuffed five attempts two nights ago against Colorado College and equaled the effort against the Falcons.
In the overtime periods, opportunities for both teams came few and far between. In the end, both goalies collected clean sheets as neither side could break through.
