New Mexico Hosts UNC Baseball for Three-Game Series

GREELEY, Colo. –After splitting their four games of opening weekend down in Lubbock, Texas, winning two against Houston Baptitst and dropping two against #3 Texas Tech, the Bears will be back on the road when they travel south on I-25 and head to Albuquerque for a three-game series against the New Mexico Lobos this weekend.
All three of the games vs the Lobos will be available to watch on the Mountain West Network (MW Network) and can be listened to on ESPN Radio 101.7 The Team. As with every UNC baseball game, live stats for the games can be found at UNCBears.com.

Friday, Feb. 21 – Northern Colorado vs New Mexico, 3 PM, MW Network
Saturday, Feb. 22 – Northern Colorado vs New Mexico, 3 PM, MW Network
Sunday, Feb. 23 – Northern Colorado vs New Mexico, 10 AM, MW Network
Series Record
UNC is 11-27-1 all-time against New Mexico. The Bears and Lobos have only played in Greeley once in their long history, with UNC taking that game. New Mexico has won the last five matchups between the schools.
About the Bears
The Bears split their games this past weekend in Lubbock, finding success against Houston Baptist. UNC defeated the HBU Huskies in their two matchups, 7-1 on Friday and 12-5 on Sunday. #3 Texas Tech proved to be a tough opponent for the Bears, defending their home field and going 2-0 vs the Bears. Josh Glenn finished the weekend pacing the Bears batting average, currently sitting at .364. UNC had seven home runs for the weekend, with two each from Jake Gitter and Josh Glenn. Three other Bears contributed a home run in the four games played. Issac Bracken got the opening day start on the mound and did not disappoint for the Bears, earning the win by only allowing one hit in six innings.
About the Lobos
The New Mexico Lobos began their season in Surprise, Ariz., playing in the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic. Like UNC, the Lobos began the season going 2-2 in their opening weekend. The Lobos season opener was against #25 Oregon State, who defeated New Mexico 11-4. New Mexico picked up a pair of wins over BYU in a Saturday double-header, winning 2-0 and 5-4, respectively. The weekend ended for the Lobos with a 5-4 loss to Gonzaga.
What's on Deck
Another weekend series is on deck for UNC Baseball, this time the Bears head north to Boise to play a four-game series Feb. 28-March 1. The Bears will be the first team to play a Boise State baseball team in 40 years, as the Boise State Broncos have resurrected their baseball program and begin play for the first time since 1980 this season.
