Mackenzie Pettit finished 13th in the heptathlon
MISSOULA, Mont. – UNC track & field concluded the heptathlon on Thursday with junior Mackenzie Pettit earning the best finish for the team in 13th place with 4,422 points.
The final three events of the day in the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run. Pettit's best event was the javelin throw where she finished 10th of the 18 competitors with a toss of 28.85m (94' 8"). In the long jump, she had a mark of 4.81m (15' 9 ½") and ran the 800 in 2:33.43.
The three other Bears in Claire Harris, Allison Davis and McKenna McGrath scratched out of the competition by not competing in one of the events.
What's ahead
With the decathlon and heptathlon done it's on to the track & field individual events. Friday will feature the prelims for all field events but steeplechase and 10,000m runs. Meanwhile, the following field events will crown a Big Sky Champion tomorrow: men's hammer throw, men's high jump, men's discus, men's long jump, women's shot put, women's pole vault, women's javelin and women's long jump.
The field events begin at 9 am with the men's high jump while field does not start until 12:30 pm with the 1,500m prelims. Coverage of all of Friday's events can be seen on Pluto TV.
