@UNC_TrackFIeld sends 11 runners to Big Sky Finals

UNC qualified 11 runners for tomorrow’s finals and set 12 PRs on Friday
MISSOULA, Mont. – The Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships continued Friday with the individual events starting. On the day, UNC qualified 11 runners for tomorrow's finals and set 12 PRs as well.
One Bear, Deondre Ritter, qualified for a pair of finals tomorrow, both the 100 and 200 meter dash. In both events, he set a new PR. Ritter ran the fifth best time in the 200m dash crossing the line at 21.33. He was the last qualifier in the 100m dash with a spring of 10.67 seconds.
Ritter was not the only Bear to qualify for the finals in both events, Greg Laday did so in the 100m and Antoine Coates and Jalen Lyons in the 200m. Laday won his prelim heat for the 100 with a PR of 10.46, the second best of all qualifying times.
Like Laday, Coates won his heat in the 200m. The junior busted off the starting blocks and earned the second best time of the day at 21.07. Meanwhile, freshman Lyons earned a spot in the finals by running a 21.52.
Two other UNC track & field runners won their heats on Friday, in Kyle Thomas and Alex Ayers. Thomas won the 400 dash with a time of 47.94 and Ayers the 400h in 52.70 seconds to set a new PR.
On the women's side, four Bears advanced to Saturday's finals in Dorian Nesby, Cammy Sargent, Mackenzie Howe and Kelsi Schuetz. Nesby will be competing in the 100 dash finals after her prelims time of 11.92, which is also a new PR.
Sargent, the current program record holder for the 800m advanced to the finals on Saturday by running a 2:11.88 in her prelim heat. Howe and Schuetz moved on to the 400h (1:02.15) and 400 dash (57.06).
In the field events, a pair of long jumpers earned points for Northern Colorado, Allison Davis and Ashley Register earned points for the women's team. Davis finished in fifth place with a leap of 5.95m (19' 6 ¼") while Ashley Register took seventh on a jump of 5.78m (18' 11 ¾"). Register's jump was a new PR for her.

UNC looks to move up the leaderboard tomorrow as the women sit in 11th place with six points and the men look to score their first points tomorrow, also in 11th place.
