DAVIS, Calif. – UNC was looking to salvage the third game of the series against UC Davis on Sunday, but four base on balls and a pair of hit by pitches sparked a seven-run Aggies second and the Bears were never able to recover and lost 12-0.

"It was a tough opening series," said UNC head coach Carl Iwasaki. "Isaac Bracken and Conner Anderson's starts were the bright spots of the weekend.

The Bear bats were limited to just six singles and no one had more than one.

UNC had 19 players making their Division I debuts this weekend.

"We had a lot of players gain valuable experience vs. a good Big West opponent. Moving forward, we just have to prevent the big inning and get our offense going early in games," Iwasaki said.

SCHEDULE SAYS

It doesn't get any easier for the Bears, next up is a series against the University of Washington who is coming off a trip to Omaha just last season. That series was moved to Phoenix, Ariz. and will now start on Thursday at 6 p.m.
