TULSA, Okla. - Northern Colorado baseball battled in a tightly contested game Friday afternoon, coming up just short in a 3-2 loss to Oral Roberts at Chapman Park.

Behind a dominant start from Reece Wagner, the Bears controlled the game through the first seven innings. Wagner was sharp from the outset, tossing 7.0 shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five. He worked around four walks and consistently limited hard contact, keeping Oral Roberts off the scoreboard and giving Northern Colorado a chance to build momentum.

Northern Colorado broke through in the third inning, with Jaden Stone driving in a run to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. The Bears added another in the fifth, capitalizing on timely hitting to extend the advantage to 2-0. Brett Barber led the way offensively with a strong 3-for-4 performance at the top of the lineup, while Stone added two hits and an RBI in the effort.

Clinging to the two-run lead into the late innings, the game turned in the eighth. Oral Roberts strung together timely hits, plating three runs to take its first lead of the game at 3-2. Despite the Bears efforts to respond late, the comeback attempt fell just short.

The Bears finished with eight hits on the day, matching Oral Roberts.
