UNC athletics welcomes the Big Sky Cross Country Championships to Greeley on Saturday
Northern Colorado's cross country teams will be playing host to the Big Sky Soccer Championships on Saturday. The Bears welcome the other 10 members of the Big Sky to Boomerang Golf Course to compete in the 5K race for the women and 8k for the men. Â The women's race is scheduled to start at 11:30 am and men's race at 12:30 pm.
Both of UNC's men and women are coming off strong performances and look to show well in the championship. The women did well at the Blazer Classic two weeks ago with all five runners recording PRs in the race. Emily Wilson led the Bears in the 6K race with a time of 22:08.11.
Meanwhile, the men competed in the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M. The Bears finished 10th as a team, paced by Stephen Hass (24:54) and Ryan Lehmuth (24:56). The men enter Saturday's championship ranked 14th in the Mountain Region.
Among the competition on Saturday includes two-time defending NCAA national champion Northern Arizona, who is ranked first nationally on the men's side and 11th on the women's side. Southern Utah's men also rank nationally, coming in at No. 19.
Regionally, seven teams are ranked on the men's side and four on the women's side.
