Greeley, Co.- The Bears take their first conference win tonight with a victory over Idaho State 3-1.
Coming out of the gates early, Lexi Pulley put the Bears on the board with a header in the third minute, assisted by Kaitlyn Meeder. This was Pulley's first goal of the season, and she had one additional shot on goal for the Bears tonight.
The field mellowed out with the Bengals and Bears until an unexpected own goal was made by Idaho State in the 35 minute of play, firing the Bears up as they entered halftime. Â
Both teams came out with high intensity in the second half, but the Bengals couldn't keep up with the Bears as Kalen Niedling scored her first goal in the 68 minute, assisted by Taylor Bray.
While the Bears were up 3-0, they were determined to keep the Bengals out of their goal. Until the 88 minute when Idaho State snuck one in past Ashley Franza. The Bears were in their attacking territory for 64 percent of the second half, pressing the Bengals and refusing to let Idaho State have another opportunity, holding on to the 3-1 victory.
Franza is now 3-8-3 for the Bears and had four total saves tonight. While Meeder and Pulley lead the Bears with two shots on goal each against Idaho State.
