This week the UNC women's tennis team heads to Las Vegas to compete in the ITA Mountain Regional Tournament from October 23rd - 26 hosted at UNLV.Â
The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top players across the country. The winners of the doubles main draw and finalists of the singles main draw will be automatically entered into the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.Â
"We are excited to compete against the best in the region and looking forward to the challenge of bringing our best competitive spirit and playing free in those moments," second year head coach Chad Stoloff said. "I believe in our team. I believe we are going to do special things this year."
This season the Bears are fortunate and able to travel all eight players to the ITA Mountain Regional, giving everyone the opportunity to face the best players in the region in both doubles and singles and really bring their full potential to the occasion.Â
This will be a first for the majority of the players on this young women's tennis team but with the guidance and experience from the three seniors: Raffa Mora, Sandra Keta and Sarina Chhabra and fresh new talent from transfers Milena Belianovich and Madison Wolf.
The UNCÂ women's tennis team is really looking to prove themselves at UNLV. However, at the same time they are grounded and realistic. One thing you can guarantee from this team is they will show up and give 100% at this event and leave it all out on the courts in Vegas.Â
With a four week break from competition since the Bedford Cup Invitational hosted by Air Force its fair to say the Bears are very eager, hungry and ready to get back into competition.Â
