GREELEY, Colo.- In the first of two conference matches of the weekend, the Bears were defeated, 5-2, at home by Sacramento State on Saturday.
UNC started the day by coming out on top and earning the point for the doubles matches. In the No. 1 spot, Raffa Mora/Synclair Larson got the win over their opponents Dorian/Dodd, 7-5, after coming back from a 5-3 deficit.
In the No. 2 doubles spot, Sandra Keta/Sarina Chhabra also won over Tomey/Yotova 6-3. Madison Wolfe/Natalie Stanton fell, 6-2, to Alter/Ugarkovic in the No. 3 spot.
In the singles matches, Sarina Chhabra won her match in just two sets over Megan Tagaloa in the No. 5 spot with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
In the rest of the singles matches, Sacramento State came out on top with wins over Raffa Mora in the No. 1 spot, Madison Wolfe in the No. 3 spot, Milena Belianovich in the No. 4 spot and Synclair Larson in the No. 6 spot. In No. 2 singles, Sandra Keta forced her match to three sets but ultimately fell to Ege Tomey.
"Sandra at No. 2 had a great, high level tennis match that could have gone either way," said Head Coach Chad Stoloff. "We need our crowd to be loud for tomorrow against Idaho State."
UNC will take on Idaho State University tomorrow at 2 p.m. to finish out their weekend of home conference matches before hitting the road again next week.
