Women’s Tennis Triumphs Over Idaho State

GREELEY - The UNC women's tennis team finished out their weekend of home conference matches with a 4-3 win against Idaho State on Sunday. The win moves the team to 3-9 on the season.
In doubles play, the Bears started strong by winning the point. Raffa Mora/Synclair Larson were victorious in the No. 1 doubles spot, 6-1, over Arkhipov/Walker. At the No. 3 spot, Madison Wolfe/Natalie Stanton also won their match against Coburn/Fenske, 7-6.
At No. 2 doubles, Sandra Keta/Sarina Chhabra's match was left unfinished, 6-6, versus Poe/Pavek.
UNC carried its momentum into singles, coming out on top in half of the matches. The match came down to the No. 4 singles match. Milena Belianovich clinched the match for the Bears against Madison Fenske with scores of 6-4, 4-6 and 6-2.
In the No. 2 spot, Sandra Keta topped Melissa Coburn in straight sets of 6-2, 6-0. Also winning in straight sets, Synclair Larson defeated Adriene Pavek, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 6 spot.
In No. 1 singles, Raffa Mora forced the match to three sets but fell short, 4-6, 6-2, 3-6, to Alexandra Arkhipov. Madison Wolfe also played three sets but was unable to get the win over Megan Poe in the No. 3 spot. At No. 5, Sarina Chhabra was defeated by her opponent Angela Walker in two sets.
"This was a total team victory today with every single person contributing to this win," said Head Coach Chad Stoloff. "We are so proud of the resilience of our team and the tenacity we showed out there today. Thanks to our fans and family that came out to cheer us on."
In their next match, the Bears will look to keep their winning streak alive as they take on Colorado State in Fort Collins on Saturday, March 14 at 12 p.m.
