Women's Tennis Holds Strong at ITA Regional

UNC women's tennis won three matches against Mountain West competition along with wins of the Conference USA and Big Sky
LAS VEGAS – Taking all eight players to the ITA Mountain Regional for the first time in program history, Northern Colorado women's tennis performed well against the tough competition. The Bears earned three wins over Mountain West competition, one over Northern Arizona, the defending Big Sky champions, and another over a Conference USA opponent.
Senior Sandra Keta had the best performance of any Bear, advancing to the Round of 16 in the singles main draw. She won her first two matches in straight sets defeating Clare Del Barrio of Nevada (6-4, 6-3) and Mimi Bland of Northern Arizona (6-3, 6-3). In the Round of 16, she didn't go down without a fight falling to Renata Lombera of Utah State 1-6, 3-6.
Four other Bears earned wins at the event as well in Natalie Stanton, Sarina Chhabra, Madison Wolfe and Raffa Mora.
Mora's win came in a competitive three set match against Sov of UNLV, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5). UNC's other win over Mountain West competition came from Stanton who beat Mae McCutcheon of Boise State by the scores of 7-5, 6-7 (6), 10-8.
Both Wolfe and Chhabra won their matches in straight sets. Wolfe defeated Kathleen Percegona of UTEP 6-2, 6-3 and Chhabra won over Morgan Hall Curtis of BYU 6-4, 6-2.
What's Ahead
Northern Colorado continues its fall competition over the first weekend of November when they travel to the GCU Invite hosted by Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
