UNC women's basketball welcomes Weber State for its third annual health and hoops day
It will be a loud and rambunctious crowed on Thursday afternoon for UNC's women's basketball game against Weber State, as they host the third annual Health and Hoops game. Over 2,000 students from the Greeley area will be in attendance to cheer on the Bears as they take on the Wildcats at noon.
Opening Tip
• UNC's five-game win streak was snapped on Monday by Montana State as they came to Greeley and won 79-66.
• Savannah Smith filled up the basket once again, scoring 27 points for the team in the loss.
• Smith was named the Ready Nutrition Big Sky Player of the Week for her games against Montana and Montana State.
• The Bears did a good job of sharing the ball recording 17 assists.
• Ali Meyer recorded her second career double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
• UNC returned to the land of the ranking, joining the Mid-Major Top 25 coming in at 25 this week.

Hot shooting from Montana State and first half turnovers were too much to overcome for UNC against the Bobcats. Northern Colorado fell to MSU 79-66. Savannah Smith finished the game with 27 points, while Ali Meyer had a double-double (10 points, 12 rebounds) and Krystal Leger-Walker recorded eight assists.
Scouting the Wildcats
Weber State is under new leadership this season with first year coach Velaida Harris. It is a rebuilding year for the team as they are 3-13 overall and 0-6 in the Big Sky.
The small, but mighty 5'3" guard J'aiamoni Welch-Coleman leads Weber State offensively scoring 17.3 points a game and also averaging 5.1 assists. She also has found her way to grab 5.1 rebounds. The Wildcats average 62.8 points a game and shooting 37.3 percent from the field.
On the defensive end of the court, opponents are almost averaging 70 points a game against WSU and shooting well both from the field and behind the arc at 40.7 and 33.9 percent respectively.
History against Weber State
The series history between Northern Colorado and Weber State dates back to 1974-75. The teams traded wins back and forth until UNC went on an eight-game win streak from 2011-14. The Bears have dominated WSU in Greeley with a 12-3 record.
Against the Big Sky
UNC joined the Big Sky in the 2006-07 season and has gone 129-100. Overall, the team is 141-138 against Big Sky schools.

The Northern Colorado-Montana State game was the lone game of the conference schedule on Monday. The Bears are now tied with Saturday's opponent, Idaho State for first place at 5-1.
