No. 14 Texas top @UNC_BearsSoccer to close out non-con play

AUSTIN, Texas – UNC knew this would probably its toughest match in recent memory on the road against Big 12 power and No. 14 ranked Texas. By no means did the Bears look outmatched, UNC finished with 11 shots the most any team has had against the Horns in their last six matches. However, UT was able to flex its muscle and kept any of those shots from ending up in the back of the net on the way to a 3-0 win.
Texas scored early in the first half when Taylor Washington came out to play a ball and UT was able to slip it to an open Cyera Hintzen who tapped the ball into the open net. UNC trailed 2-0 after Alexa Adams scored, but that didn't slow the Bears down they had three shots in the final 26 minutes of the opening half.
Having seen the pressure UNC was capable of putting on its defense, Texas came out and seemingly put the game out of reach in the opening moments of the 2nd half when Nintzen scored her second goal of the game, which gave her eight on the season in just the ninth match of the year.
Northern Colorado closed out its non-conference schedule with a 4-5 record. The Bears challenged themselves by playing team the like of Texas and SMU, also by scheduling of four matches in eight days. UNC will now try and parlay that challenge into a successful Big Sky season when they open play at Montana on Sunday.
