Recap: @UNCO_WTennis Comes Up Short Against Rams

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -Sarina Chhabra took a set in her match at No. 5 and Raffa Mora battled hard at No. 1 but the Bears were shutout 7-0 Thursday afternoon against Colorado State at CSU Tennis Complex.
The Rams began by grabbing No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead. Then in singles, Madeline Doherty fell against Emily Kolbow 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4 and Tristen Bryant-Otake lost to Alyssa Grijalva 6-1, 7-5 at No. 3 to give CSU a 3-0 edge. They sealed the match when Emily Luetschwager beat Anna Battersby at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2.
The Bears pushed back in the latter stages of the duel. At No. 5, Sarina Chhabra won the first set 7-5 against Riley Reeves, but then was blanked in the second and lost a ten point tiebreaker for the third 10-5.
No. 1 singles was the last match to finish and Raffa Mora nearly pulled off an upset of Priscilla Palermo but came up just short. After Palermo took the first set 7-5, Mora took the second 6-4 but then fell behind early in the tiebreak and eventually lost 10-3.
Colorado State (11-10, 1-4 Conf.) hosts Wyoming to finish the regular season on April 22. The Bears (5-15, 1-9 Big Sky) play Idaho State in their final match of the spring in Greeley on April 21. If weather is favorable, fans can watch at UNC Campus Tennis Courts. Otherwise, the match will be hosted at Work Out West Tennis and Fitness Center.
