Northern Colorado men's and women's teams could not top the hosts on Friday night
LARAMIE, Wyo.- Northern Colorado dropped the Wyoming Power Meet on Friday to Wyoming. The men's team fell 49-40 to the Cowboys and the women lost 72-27 to the Cowgirls.
The UNC men's team dominated the 600m run, sweeping the first five spots, with Evan Keely winning with a time of 1:23.63 minutes. Keely was followed by Cameron Ross at 1:24.54, Adam Stark at 1:25.26, Alex Ayers at 1:25.29 and Jason Farrell at 1:25.79.
Antoine Coates also won the 200m dash with a time of 22.73 seconds. Collin Schmitt placed third with a time of 23.36. Austin Chavez won the Pole Vault unopposed with a 3.65m vault.
McKenna McGrath followed up her performance on Thursday with another first place finish in the high jump, clearing the 1.70m jump for the second consecutive day for the UNC women's team. Teammate McKayla Bauer also cleared the 1.70m bar to place second. Kylie Chavez would pass the 1.65m bar to sweep the podium stand for UNC in the High Jump. Â
Semaye Johnson won the 55m Hurdles for the Bears with a time of 8.33 seconds.
The Bears also performed well in the high jump with Jalen Lyon and Chavez tying for second with a 1.90m jump. The triple jump was another strong area for the men's team, with Jake Tagita placing second with a jump of 14.38m. Tyler Thimsen placed third with a jump of 13.93m and he would also tie for second with a jump of 6.78m.
The women showed up in the 200m dash, with Olivia Whitaker placing second with a time of 25.63 seconds. Taylor Ingram also placed third with a time of 27.10 seconds.
Dorian Nesby placed second in the 55m dash with a run of 7.09 seconds. Mackenzie Howie would palce second in the 600m run with a time of 1:42.48 minutes.
In the 55m dash, Demetrius Graves placed third with a run of 6.46 seconds.
Up Next
Northern Colorado will be off until 2019, when they travel for the Front Ranger Classic in Boulder on Jan. 11 through Jan. 12.
