SAN ANTONIO, Texas – UNC saw its game against Incarnate Word pushed back because of the Cardinals women's game against Weber State. All that did was delay the investable for the Cardinal men. Bodie Hume and Jonah Radebaugh helped UNC start 3-for-3 from deep and gave the Bears a 9-0 lead before UIW even got on the board. Northern Colorado was only really challenged once and overcame it for a win going away 90-64.
"Winning on the road in college basketball is really hard," said UNC head coach Jeff Linder. "Our team came out with a great mindset and set the tone from the tip."
In a total reversal of their last game against Pepperdine, UNC scored just 12 seconds into the game when Radebaugh knocked down the first shot of the night and UNC went up 3-0. Hume followed with a pair of three balls and with less than a minute gone by the Bears were up by three possessions.
The Cardinals trailed by 18 at the half but came out of the locker room with a run of their own. At the 16:33 mark of second half, UIW got as close as it had been since the opening 45 seconds when they cut the Bears lead to 51-45.
That hope was short lived as UNC quickly went back up by double digits when Radebaugh hit another three-pointer. Sparked by nine-straight stops Northern Colorado pushed the lead back to 70-53 when the game hit the under eight timeout.
"I thought we showed a lot of resiliency in the second half when they cut the lead to six. It was great to see our defense step up and help us build our lead back,: Linder said.
