Davis scores a game high 26, but Bears topped by Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – Something had to give Saturday afternoon when two of just 39 unbeaten teams met in the Texas panhandle. Texas Tech, 5-0, came in No. 3 in the nation in scoring defense and UNC, 3-0, came in second in scoring. The Red Raiders used a second-half run and that suffocating defense to knock the Bears from the ranks of the unbeaten, 93-62.
Tech was allowing 48 points per game, so UNC topped that, but they were held to a season-low in points and connected on just 4-of-24 three-point attempts.
The Raiders leading scorer, Jarrett Culver knocked down a fallaway jumper as the buzzer sounded to end the first half in a shot that set the tone for the second half. UNC briefly cut the halftime lead to 10 following the under 16 timeout, but the Raiders quickly charged out to an 18-point lead just three minutes later when Culver knocked down a 3-pointer.
Northern Colorado started a pair of freshmen who were playing just their second road game and the first game vs. a Power 5 school. Jordan Davis scored 19 points in the first half to keep the Bears in it, the problem for the Bears was there was no second option for the UNC offense, Bodie Hume was the only other UNC player in double figures with 11. Davis finished with a game-high 26.
BREAKING OUT OF THE BOX SCORE
- UNC has outrebounded all of their opponents this season, grabbing six more boards than Tech.
- Jonah Radebaugh led the Bears with eight rebounds.
SCHEDULE SAYS
Northern Colorado will return to the Centennial State for a midweek matchup at Denver.
