UNC heads to Texas for Thanksgiving and they will be able to take their pick BBQ or tacos for Turkey Day when they play in San Antonio on Wednesday against the University of Incarnate Word.
Cardinal Cliff NotesÂ
- Â Â UIW just returned from the Bahamas where they played three games over the weekend.
- Â Â They lost to Montana and Florida Atlantic sandwiched around an OT win over North Dakota State.
- Â Â The victory over the Bison was the Cardinals first win over a DI team.
- Â Â After a season-opening loss to Texas Tech, UIW ran off a trio of wins over DIII teams.
- Â Â Seven games into the season, they have only one player averaging double figures and that's Morgan Taylor at 15.9PPG.
UNC has a very limited history against teams in the Southland Conference. The most note worry win came over Sam Houston State last season in the CIT. UIW and UNC have never met on the hardwood.
GAME NOTES
- Â Â UIW has played five more games than the Bears.
- Â Â The Bears have started three freshmen in each game this season and this will be their first game outside of Bank of Colorado Arena.
- Â Â In its four games against DI teams, UIW is allowing nearly 83 points per game.
- Â Â UNC is the second-highest scoring team in the NCAA at 107PPG.
- Â Â The Bears draw a lot of attention for their offense, however, they are outrebounding their opponents by a 16.5 margin.
- Â Â UIW is on the opposite end and is being outrebounded by nearly two boards a game.
- Â Â This will be the Bears first game in Texas since 2004-05.
Following the pre-turkey day game in the River City, UNC will make the six-hour trip to the panhandle to take on Texas Tech. The Red Raiders are fresh off a deep run through the NCAA Tournament, TT lost to the eventual national champion in the Elite Eight.
TECH TIDBITSÂ
- Â Â TTU lost its top two scorers off that Elite Eight team.
- Â Â Jarrett Culver is the leading returning scorer for Tech and he has upped his PPG average from 11 last season to 16 this season.
- Â Â Sophomore Davide Moretti is the Raiders second-leading scorer at 11.3.
- Â Â At 3-0, Texas Tech has a pair of games before UNC comes to town against Southern Cal and either Nebraska or Missouri State.
UNC took on one Power 5 team last season, Colorado, the Bears will be looking for its first win over a P5 team since 2013.
GAME NOTES
- Â Â Averaging over 100 points a game, UNC will take on a Tech defense that is allowing less than half of that a game this season.
- Â Â Both teams are winning games by more than 30 points per game.
- Â Â UNC is shooting nearly 47 percent from deep, Tech is holding its opponents to 24 percent.
- Â Â Both teams have a rebounding margin of at least +15.
- Â Â Texas Tech holds a 3-0 series lead over the Bears with the last meeting coming in 2004-05.
