Bears Snap Losing Streak, Defeat Metro State 5-2

GREELEY, Colo.- The Bears snapped an eight-match losing streak on Friday, beating Metro State by a score of 5-2. Things started well for the Bears as they were able to grab the team doubles point, getting wins at No. 2 from Hayden Cramer and Cassell King 6-4 and at No. 3 with Alex Vakouftsis and Agustin Lombardi 7-5. In the beginning stages the Bears trailed in all three doubles matches but managed to come back and get the victories in two of three.
Following, Northern Colorado dropped the match at No. 2 singles but won at No. 1 (Connor Finerty), and No. 5 (Agustin Lombardi) to make the score 3-1 in favor of the Bears. Then Alex Vakouftsis finished things off with a win at No. 3, sealing the win for UNC.
With the victory today, Northern Colorado now has a record of 7-12 (3-7 Big Sky). The Bears will be back in action tomorrow when they play Colorado College at 10:00am. Weather pending it will be outside at Butler Hancock Tennis Courts.
