UNC Men’s Tennis Tops Montana State on the Road

BOZEMAN, Mont.- On Sunday morning the Northern Colorado men's tennis team was victorious over Montana State 5-2.
The Bears started the match strong with wins in two of the doubles matches. In the No. 2 spot, Kyle Pease/John Giesberts defeated Espinoza/Monteiro 6-4. Adolfo Arroyo/Nick Wade also got the win, 6-3, over Zelver/Stoner at No. 3 doubles.
In the No. 1 doubles spot, Thomas Pudney/Julian Kenzlers came up short against Sitar/Damgaarrd-Qvist 6-1.
In singles play, UNC won four of the six matches. At No. 2, Thomas Pudney got the win against Joaquin Espinoza in two sets, 6-3, 6-4. Julian Kenzlers, at No. 3, was consistent and defeated Christian Damgaard-Qvist in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. In the No. 4 singles spot, Adolfo Arroyo topped his opponent Marcos Zelver with sets of 6-3, 4-6 and 6-1. John Giesberts also came out on top in No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2, against Chase Stoner.
In the No. 1 singles spot, Kyle Pease forced three sets but was defeated by Nejc Sitar, 4-6, 6-2 and 6-2. Alex Exsted also came up short, 6-3, 7-5, in his No. 6 singles match against Manuel Monteiro.
UNC will take this momentum back home next weekend at the Butler-Handcock Tennis Courts in a match against Idaho on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m.
