Northern Colorado men's tennis went 0-2 over the weekend against EWU and UI
CHENEY, Wash. – Northern Colorado men's tennis went 0-2 on its road trip to the Pacific Northwest falling to Idaho and Eastern Washington. The Vandals beat the Bears 6-1, while EWU won 5-2.
On Saturday, Idaho took care of Northern Colorado quickly in a 6-1 decision. They earned the team doubles point by sweeping all three matches, before moving to signles play.
In the singles matches, only one Bear came out victorious. Kyle Pease was that Bear at the No. 3 slot. He won in straight sets over Carlos Longhi Neto 6-2, 6-2.
Only one other UNC player pushed the match to three sets in Augustin Lombardi. He lost the No.5 slot 1-6, 7-6 (1), 10-3.
On Sunday, Eastern Washington earned the team doubles point by winning two of the three matches in doubles play. The No. 1 duo of Kyle Pease and Connor Finerty won the long match for UNC 6-4.
In singles play, Northern Colorado was able to pick up a pair of points during singles play from the No. 2 and 6 spots. Pease, who earned a win during doubles play with his partner Finerty, also won at the No. 2 slot in a tough three set battle. Pease dropped the first set 6-1 to Victor Perira, before coming back to win the match 6-4, 10-8.
The other win for UNC came from Cassell King against Vuk Vuckovic of EWU 7-6 (8-7), 6-3. Eastern Washington won the remaining singles matches to take the match. All of the Eagles wins came in straight sets.
Northern Colorado returns to action on Friday hosting Metro State in Greeley.
