Softball Back On The Road For Cardinal Classic

The Bears travel back to Texas for another five-game tournament this weekend
GREELEY, Colo. – UNC Softball is back on the road this weekend following a 2-3 outing at the UTA Tournament. The Bears travel down to Beaumont, Texas for another five-game tournament, the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Lamar University. The tournament runs Feb. 19-21, with games starting at 9:00 a.m. MT all three days.
To start off the tournament, the Bears play Alcorn State on Friday morning, and face the host team (Lamar) in the afternoon, set for a 3:45 p.m. start. Northern Colorado lead the series against Alcorn State 2-0, meeting them once in 2006 and again in 2008. This will be the first time UNC has faced Lamar University in program history.
Saturday (Feb. 20) will hold another double header for Northern Colorado, starting with a 9:00 a.m. game against Texas Southern (series now 1-0 in the Bears' favor after last weekend's 1-0 win). The second game of the day for the UNC squad will be at 1:30 p.m. in another first-time game, this time against Incarnate Word.
UNC sees Lamar again on Sunday morning (9:00 a.m.) to close out their weekend and their February schedule.
Northern Colorado will take the rest of the month off, but will be back in action on March 1st up in Fort Collins against Colorado State. UNC's first home-stand will be on March 8th in a double header against Nebraska-Omaha.
