Pocatello, Idaho – Looking to rebound off their first Big Sky Conference loss in 2016, the Bears travel to the eastern side of Idaho looking for a victory against the Bengals.
Despite recent memories of winning the Big Sky Conference tournament in Moscow last season, the Vandals got the best of the Bears, earning the shutout on Friday, 2-0.
Â
Sophomore midfielder Mariel Gutierrez, junior forward Brooke Braden and sophomore forward Maddie Roberts each recorded shots on goal, but none could best the Vandal goalkeeper Torell Stewart.
After missing two consecutive games, freshmen forward Thalia Kusulas was back in a Bear uniform. Kusulas, who played 25 minutes against Idaho on Friday, had started the opening eight games of the Bear's season.
Idaho State picked up its first conference win on Friday, taking down North Dakota 2-1. After putting up 11 shots in the first half, the Bengals kicked their offense into overdrive, totaling another 18 in the second. The wide margin in shot total, combined with their six to two advantage in corner kicks, left the Fighting Hawks with another loss this season.
Sunday afternoon marks the 12th meeting between the Bears and the Bengals. Northern Colorado owns the all-time series record by a mark of 6-4-1.
