Idaho's Threes Sink @UNCBearsWBB

Northern Colorado women's basketball fell to Idaho Saturday in Big Sky play 66-56
MOSCOW, Idaho – Northern Colorado (5-7, 0-2 Big Sky) women's basketball played tough defense Saturday afternoon versus Idaho (10-4, 2-0 Big Sky), but a plethora of 3-point shots and made free throws led to a loss to the Vandals 66-56.
The Bears out-shot UI from the field 43.4 percent to 37.0 percent, but the difference of makes from downtown, 12-to-5, and at the charity strip 14-to-5, was the deciding factor in the Big Sky Conference game.
Idaho also controlled the boards against UNC, outrebounding Northern Colorado 37-29, including grabbing 10 on the offensive end.
Northern Colorado was led behind the combo of junior Kourteney Zadina and sophomore Savannah Scott. Zadina finished the game with a team leading 19 points, including going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. She added in three rebounds, a block and a steal for the game.
Scott once again stuffed the stat sheet for UNC. She added 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals to her season totals.
During the majority of the first quarter, both teams were feeling each other out playing within a six point margin.
After a Zadina three pulled UNC within a point at the 3:56 mark in the quarter, Idaho proceeded to close it out on an 8-4 run to lead the Bears 18-13 after one.
By the half, the Vandals expanded its lead to nine at 37-28. UI was led behind the 10 points of Christina Salvatore and additional eight of Geraldine McCorkell. The duo finished with 10 and 17 points, respectively.
Idaho closed the door on the game with a 10-4 run in the beginning part of the fourth quarter to be up 56-42. The closest Northern Colorado would get after that point was eight with just 17 seconds left.
UNC returns home now for a pair of games starting on Thursday, January 7 when they host Idaho State at 7:00 p.m.
