UNC faces Pittsburgh in their 2015 home opener before jumping back on the road to play SEMO
GREELEY, Colo. - Soccer kicks off their home game queue this Thursday (Aug. 27) when they play the University of Pittsburgh for the first time in program history. This will also be the first time the team has played an ACC school since 1987.
The home opener against the Panthers will take place at Jackson Stadium at 7:00 p.m. MT and will be the first game in the season-long promotion of in-game giveaways for UNC students.
The second game of the weekend takes place on the road in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where the Bears will meet the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks for the second time in program history. Their first meeting resulted in a win at home last season.
Last weekend, the Bears went 1-1-0, falling to Colorado College in the season opener Friday afternoon, 1-0, but rallied back Sunday morning for a, 1-0 win over the Air Force Falcons. UNC outshot their opponents 26-16 in the opening weekend, with 13 shots on-goal opposed to only seven coming from the opposition.
After their trip to Missouri, the Northern Colorado squad will return home to Jackson Stadium next week to play Drake on Sept. 4th, hoping to pick up their first win over Drake in a series that currently stands at 0-2-1.
