The Northern Colorado football team (1-2, 0-0 Big Sky) makes the trip to Missoula, Montana to open up Big Sky action against #7 Montana (2-2, 0-0 Big Sky) Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1:00 p.m. (MT). The Bears are coming off a setback last weekend against #11 Northern Iowa, dropping the contest 46-7.
LAST GAME:
It wasn't quite the road trip the Bears (1-2) were expecting, giving up 327 yards and 36 points in the first half to #11 Northern Iowa (1-2). UNC would improve in the second half, limiting the Panthers to just 10 points, but it was too little, too late as UNI rolled to a, 46-7 win on Saturday.
Senior wide receiver Dimitri Stimphil and junior tight end, Derek Vander Velde were bright lights in dark game. The duo combined for 112 yards receiving on seven catches in the loss. Sophomore quarterback, Sean Rubalcaba continued to show consistency, ending his night 13 for 20 for 147 yards, but was sacked seven times. Senior running back, Robert Holland led the Bears in rushing yards, carrying the ball 16 times for 76 yards.
MONTANA:Â
Bison Senior kicker Adam Keller connected on a school-record five field goals to lead the number-one ranked North Dakota State to 22-10 win over the fourth-ranked University of Montana Grizzlies Saturday afternoon in front of a loud and partisan crowd of 18,890 fans in NDSU's Gate City Bank Field at the FargoDome.
Quarterback Jordan Johnson was 15-of-29-1 for 188 yards with no scoring throws. Johnson was intercepted for the first time this season, which was also the Grizzlies' first turnover of the season. Running back Jordan Canada had 12 carries for 48 yards and a TD. Senior running back/wide-out Travon Van and junior wide receiver Ellis Henderson had a team-high 4 receptions each.
