Season stats
As a junior, Hughes established herself as one of the best setters not only in the Big Sky, but in the nation ... She consistently set the table perfectly for Northern Colorado’s big hitters – leading the Big Sky with 11.06 Assists/Set ... That same assist rate also put her in the upper echelon of setters in the nation as she finished 35th nationally in Assists/Set ... Named to her third-straight Big Sky All-Conference Second Team after another outstanding season ... She also was named the Big Sky Conference Volleyball Championship MVP while helping guide the Bears to the NCAA Tournament ... Already the Bears’ Division I leader, Hughes’s 3,590 career assists places her sixth on Northern Colorado’s all-time list ... With another sterling year, she could vault to as high as third in the school’s record books ... Her assist numbers are so prodigious, in fact, that she has posted 10 or more assists in every match she's played during her three years as a Bear ... In addition to her deft passing touch, Hughes has added an effective attack game too -- posting the second-highest hitting percentage (.297) on the team ... She scored more than 25 extra kills during her junior campaign ... In an Oct. 1 road match against Portland State, Hughes dished out a season-high 59 assists while also notching four kills on .273 hitting ... She also became a double-double machine in her third year -- posting 11 double-doubles total including three in the season's first four games ... All 11 double-doubles involed assists and digs as Hughes continues to improve her defensive skills as well.

Season stats
Battled through illness in the early part of the season (most of September) before regaining her form and reputation as one of the best setters in the Big Sky Conference ... Was named to the All-Big Sky Conference Second Team for the second consecutive year ... Ended the year with an even 1,000 assists, which was third most in the league ... Her 10.99 assists-per-game, though, was the best average in the Big Sky ... Ranked 32nd in the country in the category ... After just two seasons already ranks first in Northern Colorado Division I history with 2,384 assists ... Ranks seventh in overall school history in the category ... An all-around player, she ended the season with 95 career blocks, which ranked ninth in the Bears' Division I history ... Hit a robust .324 in wins during the season ... Finished the year with a career-high 98 kills on 254 swings with just 31 errors ... Hit .264 on the year ... Her 22 service aces ranked third on Northern Colorado ... Also contributed 148 digs ... Had 50 or more assists six times during the year, bringing her career total to 16 ... Had four double-digit dig efforts, including a career-high 17 against Portland State in the Big Sky Volleyball Championship final match.

Earned All-Big Sky Conference Second Team status as a true freshman after finishing first in the league in overall assists (1,384) and second in assists per game (11.07) ... Earned spot on All-Big Sky Volleyball Championship Team after dishing out 54 assists and scooping eight digs in Bears' 3-1 title-match victory against Portland State ... Finished year with 18 service aces, most by any non-senior ... 11.07 sets per game was the top average in the NCAA by a true freshman and 28th best overall ... Finished the year already ranked ninth in school history in total assists ... Her 0.43 blocks-per-game mark ranked fourth on the team ... Had season-high 61 assists in Bears' 3-2 Big Sky Semifinal win against Eastern Washington ... Had 50 or more assists 10 times ... Contributed double-digit digs in four matches.
HIGH SCHOOL: Was a team captain and earned three varsity letters for Jimmy Munoz at prestigious Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif.... Named Monarchs' Most Valuable Player her senior year... Named First Team All-Trinity League in 2009... Member of Orange County All-Star Team in June 2009... Also named MD's Junior Varsity Most Valuable Player as a freshman... AAU team finished ninth at nationals in 2008... Was a member of National Honor Society and the honor roll.
