- Played his final high school season at Christopher Colombus High School in Florida under head coach Andrew Moran. His previous three seasons were spent at Cherrry Creek High School in Colorado.
- Over three seasons at Cherry Creek Hammond averaged 13.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
- As a junior he exploded averaging a team-high 19.5 points per game to go along with 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.
- Known for his competitiveness and clutch shooting, Hammond's high school career is highlighted by a game-winning three-pointer against Smoky Hill during his sophomore season.
- Hammond is the son of Ruby and Julian Hammond II, who both also played basketball at Cal Poly and Loyola Marymount.
- His father played professionally in Australia and grandfather, Julian, Sr., played for the Denver Rockets of the ABA from 1967-72.
- He has two older brothers, Julian and Christian.
- Julian was an all-conference basketball player at Colorado and Christan is currently playing at NC State.
