Bears Return Home to Host New Mexico

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado women's soccer returns to Jackson Stadium on Sunday as the Bears welcome New Mexico for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
UNC returns home following a hard-fought road match at Creighton on Friday. The Bears battled the Bluejays through nearly 89 scoreless minutes before Sarah Hyde's late goal lifted Creighton to a 1-0 victory.
Despite the result, Northern Colorado showed growth throughout the match, generating six of its 10 shots in the second half while creating five corner-kick opportunities after the break.
The Bears will look to carry that second-half momentum back to Jackson Stadium, where they have already earned a 2-1 victory over Colorado State along with draws against South Dakota and Denver this season.
SCOUTING NEW MEXICO
New Mexico travels to Greeley with a 2-2 record through its first four matches of the season.
The Lobos opened the year with a 2-0 victory over Northern Arizona before falling 3-1 to Gonzaga. New Mexico responded with a 3-2 win over CSUN before suffering a 3-0 road loss at Colorado on Thursday.
Through four matches, New Mexico has scored six goals while allowing eight. Sunday's matchup will mark the Lobos' second consecutive road contest.
BEARS LOOK TO RESPOND
Northern Colorado has shown its ability to compete in tightly contested matches early this season. Three of the Bears' last four matches have been decided by one goal or fewer, including the win over Colorado State and draws against South Dakota and Denver.
Freshman Maddie Mori enters Sunday after leading UNC with four shots against Creighton, including two on goal. Sunnie Yarnell also put both of her attempts on target Friday as the Bears generated 10 total shots against the Bluejays.
Sunday gives UNC an opportunity to quickly respond to Friday's result while closing out a stretch of two matches in three days.
