GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado's Francesca Jordan has been named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Friday, after helping the Bears to a 3-0 win over Northern Arizona and the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
Jordan defended preseason Big Sky Player of the Year Micala Boex and kept the Lumberjacks off the board, anchoring a back line that posted the Bears' eighth shutout of the season and their sixth in conference play.
She also assisted on the first goal of the game, getting Northern Colorado off to a fast start, and put two shots up with one on goal to keep the pressure on.
The win gave the Bears their first Big Sky Tournament berth since 2021. Jordan and her teammates open tournament play Friday, Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. MT in Missoula against the winner of Northern Arizona and Idaho State.
This is Jordan's first weekly honor of the season and the fifth for a Northern Colorado player this fall.
