GREELEY, Colo. - Northern Colorado volleyball will get its first taste of competition ahead of the 2026 season when the Bears host Wyoming in an exhibition match Friday, Aug. 21, at 6 p.m. inside Bank of Colorado Arena.
Friday's exhibition will give the Bears an opportunity to compete in front of their home crowd while continuing to prepare for the upcoming season.
The exhibition match against Wyoming will not be broadcast.
BEARS READY TO BUILD ON CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON: Northern Colorado enters the 2026 season looking to build off a championship 2025 campaign. The Bears captured the program's eighth conference championship last season, sweeping Idaho State in the championship match to earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. With the success of last season behind them, the Bears will look to carry that momentum into 2026. UNC returns to the court with key returners and newcomers and will use the preseason and Friday's exhibition to prepare for another competitive season.
BEARS SELECTED NO. 1 IN PRESEASON POLL: The Bears enter the season earning the No. 1 spot in the Big Sky Conference preseason coaches' poll. UNC also had two players selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team, with Alayna Tessena and Nerea Alvarez Jorge earning preseason honors. The pair will look to lead the Bears as they begin their quest for another conference championship.
REGULAR SEASON OPENER: The Bears will officially open the 2026 season on Saturday, Aug. 29, when they host UC Davis at Bank of Colorado Arena. The match up will mark the first regular-season contest of the year for UNC as the Bears begin their pursuit of another successful campaign.
